Accor’s Expansion to Boost Saudi Arabia’s Hospitality Sector

Accor, a French multinational hospitality company, has unveiled its ambitions to significantly grow its hotel portfolio in Saudi Arabia. By 2030, the firm plans to add 45 new establishments, reflecting its dedication to supporting the Kingdom’s vibrant hospitality sector and Vision 2030 aspirations. This expansion will increase Accor’s presence from its current 41 hotels to at least 86 establishments, totalling over 16,000 rooms.

The regional CEO of Accor, Duncan O’Rourke, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Saudi’s growth trajectory during an interview at the Future Hospitality Summit. It aims to utilize such platforms to share its expertise and learn from industry peers.

Having a substantial presence already in the Kingdom, Accor celebrates a long-established history in Saudi Arabia. O’Rourke, who personally lived in the region 22 years ago, expressed excitement over witnessing its growth. He emphasized the importance of integrating local talent into the hospitality industry, a challenge they have already begun to address.

Investing in Human Capital with the Ministry of Tourism and Education

Accor strives to nurture local talent, partnering with the Ministry of Tourism and Education. Together, they have launched the “Tamayyaz by Accor” initiative, aiming to educate and train local people for careers in the hospitality sector. The program supports the professional journey of individuals from entry-level positions to more senior roles.

Nurturing Thousands of Saudi Talents in Hospitality

Starting with an initial 250 trainees, O’Rourke explained that they plan for this figure to quickly increase. He anticipates over 3,000 individuals will go through the process, adding to the local workforce not only in major urban centers like Riyadh and Jeddah, but also in secondary and third cities. This model emphasizes Accor’s commitment to broadening its footprint across the Kingdom.

Accor carries 13 brands across Saudi Arabia, offering a wide range of hospitality experiences. Its portfolio ranges from premium to economy segments, such as luxury brands and Ennismore’s lifestyle collective. Top hospitality provider brands like Novotel, Swissotel, and Pullman, contribute to its 16,000 rooms.

The company is a leading player in the luxury and lifestyle sectors in Saudi Arabia’s hospitality industry. It is also the largest hospitality operator in the Holy Cities, where it contributes to developing the holy destination of Makkah. With direct access to the Haram, it provides high-quality hospitality through its 13 hotels and 11,900 rooms.
