New and expanded partnerships within the Cloud Wars Top 10, driven by GenAI innovation, just keep coming. AWS and SAP are expanding their collaboration. The focus is on using GenAI and other technologies to maximize the benefits of RISE with SAP.
AWS was the first cloud provider certified to support the SAP portfolio. Thousands of enterprises run SAP solutions on AWS for their mission-critical applications. Now, AWS and SAP aim to make it easier for companies to apply generative AI.
Customer Impact and GenAI Capabilities
The collaboration focuses on three core areas: easy adoption of RISE with SAP on AWS, enhanced performance of SAP cloud workloads, and embedded GenAI capabilities. SAP customers gain access to powerful large language models.
Amazon Bedrock services provide access to models like the Anthropic Claude 3 model family and Amazon Titan. This integration with the generative AI hub in SAP AI Core allows users to develop apps using these models and their proprietary data.
Future AI and Enhanced Performance
The expanded partnership with AWS includes training models for new business applications. SAP already uses AWS Graviton3 chips to support its SAP HANA Cloud. Future plans involve introducing Graviton4 chips for improved efficiency.
Beyond this, SAP will leverage AWS’s dedicated AI and ML chips, AWS Trainium, and AWS Inferentia, to train and build SAP Business AI offerings. This speeds up development while maintaining accuracy and reliability.
Innovations Fueling Project Kuiper
RISE with SAP on AWS will also benefit from Amazon EC2 High Memory U7i instances, offering up to 32TiB of memory per instance. From Amazon’s perspective, they are deploying RISE with SAP to support Project Kuiper.
With Project Kuiper set to provide affordable internet access to millions, RISE with SAP will let the team focus on the project’s complexities, not on backend IT management.
